Bleed a radiator — interactive guide

Remove trapped air so radiators heat evenly — step by step with a bleed key.

Run the system ten minutes so pressure pushes air to the top. Then switch heating off to avoid scalding.

Radiator bleed key or flat screwdriver, cloth, and small container for drips.

💡 Work when radiators are warm but not fiercely hot.

At the top corner, turn anti-clockwise a quarter turn until you hear hiss. Catch water when it runs steady.

Turn clockwise when water flows without spluttering — no more air. Wipe dry.

Bleeding drops system pressure. Top up via filling loop if gauge is below 1 bar — consult boiler manual.
